Earn 2 CAE points for attending the morning sessions!
Balance is necessary to succeed both personally and professionally.
ESSAE has designed an event for association staff where you can accomplish this--business in the morning and wellness in the afternoon! Start the day with two learning opportunities:
9:45 - 10:45 a.m.
Wisdom Forum: Managing Multiple Priorities
By attending this program, participants will learn to better clarify and prioritize conflicting demands; negotiate expectations; recognize and reduce/eliminate time wasters and plan and manage their time to address competing demands more effectively.
Presenter Alan Krieger is the founder and president of Krieger Solutions, LLC. Since 1992, Krieger has provided training and consulting services to thousands of supervisors, managers and line staff, working with national governments, international organizations, hospitals, state agencies, small corporations, non-profit organizations, and statewide associations. His expertise is in designing and facilitating training projects that improve employee satisfaction and overall organizational performance. He has a Master of Science Degree in Management from Antioch New England Graduate School.
10:45 - 11:45 a.m.
Keynote: The Leadership Kaleidoscope
This highly interactive keynote presentation is based on the leadership lessons found in film. Created by the Hartwick Leadership Institute with the support of the Kellogg Foundation, participants view carefully excerpted scenes from popular films to provide an indelible picture of leadership behaviors in action. Provocative leadership moments of truth are revealed and discussed in an energetic give and take that produces fresh leadership insights and behaviors.
Presented by John Clemens, The founder and executive director of the both the Hartwick Humanities in Management Institute and the Hartwick Leadership Institute,. Clemens became a professor of business, first at the University of Maryland and then at Hartwick College in upstate New York. With a million-dollar grant from the W. K. Kellogg Foundation, Clemens founded the Institute and began transforming great books into practical lessons in leadership. Clemens (with co-author Melora Wolff) translated research into the book, Movies to Manage By: Lessons in Leadership from Great Films (Contemporary Books, 1999).
12:30 p.m.
Wellness activities
Golf Tournament: ESSAE’s golf tournament (scramble format), using the team’s “best shot,” allows the most fun for novice and ace golfers alike. One of the premier features of The Otesaga is its 72 par Leatherstocking Golf Course. Designed in 1909 by Devereux Emmet, it is considered by many to be one of the East’s most scenic and challenging resort golf courses. In addition to the quality of play on the course, The Leatherstocking Golf Course has been hailed for its commitment to high environmental standards and to preservation of wildlife habitat. Foursomes are assigned on an A-B-C-D level basis to ensure an equitable tournament. Requests for pairings/foursomes will be considered but not guaranteed, and must include players at each level.
Golf Awards: Awards will be given during dinner for: Closest to the Pin (Men & Women), Longest Drive (Men & Women), Straightest Drive/Closest to Line (Men & Women) and Lowest Team Score (1st & 2nd prize).
Choose among these enjoyable activities:
• Brewery Ommegang Tour • Hall of Fame Museum
• Farmers Museum • Glimmerglass Queen Boat Ride
The Otesaga is an ideal retreat simply to relax and recharge. Slip away to the Lake Landing or a “rocker” on the veranda to reflect, read or just enjoy nature.
Reception and Dinner, Cooperstown style!
Following your day of wisdom and wellness, enjoy a leisurely walk or take the trolley and join us for cocktails and dinner at the National Baseball Hall of Fame one of the country’s most popular destinations and best-known sports shrine in the world! Then back to the Otesaga’s Templeton Lounge for music and dancing.
