Government Affairs Specialist – NYSFDA is a non-profit trade association in Colonie. The successful candidate will function well in a team atmosphere, be self-motivated, and possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills including copy editing.  The Specialist will work closely with the Deputy Executive Director and member committees in the advancement of NYSFDA’s government relations priorities.  Involvement in a broad range of related activities, including tracking state legislation and regulations; managing a grassroots lobbying network composed of association members; maintaining and updating the government relations section of NYSFDA’s website; composing articles for the monthly newsletter; and, other tasks as assigned.

Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field and a minimum of two years previous work experience in the NY State legislative process preferred. Ability to travel and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Proficiency with LRS, Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel and internet researching techniques.  Familiarity with a not-for-profit trade or professional association preferred. Salary commensurate with experience.
