Position Description

Position Title: Director of Education
Reports To: President and CEO
Position Available:Open
Compensation: Salary position ($42,000-$48,000)


Position Concept:                              

This position is a member of the senior leadership team and works closely with other senior leaders to develop and implement the organization’s long-term strategies for growth, learning outcomes and financial stability.  Primary responsibilities include leading a team to implement and expand JA programs, directing all recruiting, training and program management, monitoring programs for adherence to JA USA program implementation standards, and supervising the relationships with all education customers.  The position is also the chief liaison to education/program committees and JA USA.


Primary Responsibilities:

Programs/Education

  • Oversee and deliver program implementation with emphasis on quality and quantity
  • Implement current and new programs per the Strategic Plan
  • Supervise and/or deliver sales presentations to new districts schools, and prospective teachers
  • Ensure appropriate program mix (# of elementary, middle, high and specialty programs)
  • Develop community partnerships
  • Oversee implementation of JA Job Shadow, JA Launch Lesson, and other specialized program partnerships.
  • Actively participate in education community to assure JA’s position in statewide and local educational mindset
  • Ensure accurate year-end program verification, registration and reporting to Junior Achievement USA for Education Team

Volunteers/Business

  • Secure volunteers for the JA area and identify strategic corporate/business partnerships
  • Supervise development of volunteer recognition plan to ensure volunteer growth and retention
  • Supervise implementation of volunteer training program

Management Duties

  • Participate on Management Team
  • Assemble, effectively manage and develop and evaluate high-quality Education Team
  • Cultivate relationships with educators on JA board
  • Attend area networking events as appropriate
  • Manage key program and volunteer committees
  • Supervise Education Team, along with program-focused interns and work-study students

Other

  • Other duties as assigned; including some early mornings, weeknights and weekends (special events, committees etc.)

 Education/Experience Required:

  • Degree in education, business or related field preferred and/or equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge of education community/organizations
  • Management skills and strong oral/written communication skills are a must
