The Empire State Society of Association Executives (ESSAE) is a nonprofit professional organization for persons engaged in the management of voluntary trade and professional organizations. ESSAE provides quality educational, leadership, and professional development opportunities to association executives and supplier members, to encourage high professional standards in the management of associations. ESSAE membership comprises over 475 members statewide and is an approved provider of continuing education for those holding the CAE designation.

We are excited to introduce a new three-part national cohort series by The Alliance Learning Collective!

Throughout three highly interactive discussions, we will discuss, explore, and experiment with dozens of methods for gently nudging members through the three stages of engagement. We will look at every nook and cranny of member engagement, including (but not limited to) messaging, online communities, on-boarding, networking, learning, conferences, chapters, benefits, volunteerism, and value. We will attempt to stand in the shoes (hopefully new shoes) of our new members, long-time members, and mid-career members. Some discussions are likely to center on high-tech strategies, while others will reveal simple, low-budget, no-tech options.

While the conversations will be wide-ranging, the goal is simple - to figure out how to engage and re-engage members in today's tricky environment.

Association Leadership Academy - Begins October 14

The Association Leadership Academy (ALA) is an accelerated leadership program for association professionals, executives, and emerging executives in the association management field.

This 6-month program offers a unique learning experience over a series of monthly educational forums led by accomplished association and corporate leaders. It is a great way to formalize and update everything you know about running associations — and to learn in areas you want to grow.

  • Updated academy curriculum featuring ESSAE leaders and industry experts
  • Capstone project enables participants to explore an area of particular interest  
  • Six day-long classes held on Friday
  • Sessions facilitated by ESSAE leaders, graduates, and subject specialists
  • Open to both ESSAE members and non-members
  • Limited to no more than 20 professionals
  • Up to 30 credit hours to qualify to sit for the CAE exam or to re-certify

Participants ALA in the will emerge with the knowledge and critical decision-making ability on timely and significant topics relevant to association management.
