Professional Development and Events

To the ESSAE Members & Community:

Though the Coronavirus crisis has made for unsettling times, each day we learn more and create plans to move forward.

Like you, we’re following advice and guidelines from our partners at ASAE, the CDC, and the New York governor’s office surrounding precautionary measures. The health and wellbeing of our staff, attendees, partners, and community comes first, which is why, as of April 3, 2020, we’ve decided to postpone all upcoming in-person events until further notice. Additionally, as you may already know, ESSAE staff is working remotely with the full capabilities of serving our members.

In the meantime, here are some of our top priorities for the near future:

Annual Conference and Trade Show – will be rescheduled
We’re working with our event partners to reschedule this event for mid-fall/early winter. Current exhibitors and sponsors will automatically be credited for any funds paid, and if refunds are needed, we will certainly accommodate those requests. We appreciate your patience as we work out the details. Please wait to make any adjustments to your booth registration until we have confirmed and announced the new date in the next few weeks. Existing reservations at the host hotel (Saratoga Hilton) will be automatically cancelled, and no fees will be owed on these rooms.

Connecting Members Remotely
One of the benefits of in-person meetings is seeing your friends and sharing with peers. Since face-to-face interactions are not possible for the short-term, we will be creating opportunities for you to take advantage of your ESSAE membership remotely. This may include webinars, live chats on social media, and Zoom meetings for our members and volunteer communities. We’ll share more details as we transition from reactive to proactive.

We’ll continue to send out a regular E-News Updates, but beyond that our email communications will focus on your immediate needs and how we can help. We have compiled a resource webpage designed to streamline the flood of COVID-19 information circulating and offer guidance to help you and your association move forward in this changing business environment. If you have any questions or would like to share what your organization is doing, please contact us at [email protected].

We recognize the difficulties faced by our industry partners, many of whom have suffered a great deal during this crisis. Throughout ESSAE’s 40 years of existence, our industry partners have supported our events and programs. Without their help and support over the years, helping us offset costs in support of association professionals’ education, ESSAE would not be what it is today. For that, we sincerely thank you. As a Society, we look forward to helping you rebuild your business when the threat is over – you can count on us to have your back as you’ve had ours for so many years.

Just as you strive to assist your members, clients, and constituents, our goal is to provide you with information, helpful resources, and a place to catch your breath, connect with peers, and be reminded that we’ll get through this together. Our greatest resource is you, our community. Together we can learn, share, and come out of this situation stronger and more prepared.

Thank you for your understanding and unwavering support as we navigate this rapidly changing situation together.

ESSAE offers educational seminars several times a year which focus on timely issues and trends affecting associations and the daily work-lives of the executive. ESSAE members freely share their experiences and expertise with fellow members so you don’t have to “reinvent the wheel.” In addition to these educational programs, ESSAE offers its members the opportunity to establish both a personal and professional relationship through many social events such as:

Every educational program sponsored by ESSAE offers points toward achieving your Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation. In addition, a regular study group for CAE candidates convenes each Fall to prepare for annual CAE examinations.
